Message from Alumni

Although the MSc OM programme offered by the LMS department is one of four postgraduate programmes I have studied at PolyU, this programme provided me with another new way of looking at management strategies to deal with the ever-changing business environment. More importantly, it showed me how to equip myself to develop both the strategic thinking process and the necessary skills to make sound business decisions through better resource management. This has resulted in a more sustainable long-term advantage for our key stakeholders rather than a short-term competitive advantage.

Operationally, as the head of the Internal Audit department, I have significantly benefited from the programme. I’m now able to better allocate and use department resources to acquire, develop, and retain valuable talent with a range of professional competencies.

Practically, for someone working in the internal audit profession, the teaching materials and insightful lectures provided me with an open-minded way of understanding front-line business operations without compromising the principle of independence. It helped me improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations in a more collaborative manner, and balance corporate governance with operational practices, policies, and procedures.

Learning is a lifelong pursuit. I hope you will become a member of the world-class LMS department at PolyU.

This practical, inspiring, and interactive programme has helped me develop substantial professional and academic competencies. The courses covering the critical areas of operations management enabled me to quickly master various techniques to solve real problems in my daily work. Continuous improvement - one of the key concepts of this programme - became my devoted motto, which I have incorporated into my work and personal growth.

The professors were impressively patient and talented. The engaging case studies during class discussions helped me gain a better understanding of relevant concepts and knowledge. The students came from different fields and professional backgrounds, and their life stories and experiences enriched my perspective.

The learning was challenging but enjoyable. It turned me into a better version of myself: able to think independently and critically, express my opinions confidently, and embrace the ever-changing business world.
